Abstract

Strategic alliances prove that the state of industry and the market conditions influences strategic decisions. Within the fierce competitive environment companies might go for strategic alliances for short term and/or long term. But for the success and the construction of such alliance, the importance of the core competencies of companies is vital. These core competencies have to have complementary specifications and should be able to create synergy. In this study importance of the core competencies will be examined especially, during the formation of strategic alliances. There are two main objectives for the study. First one is to associate the relation between strategic alliance models and core competencies. Second one is to determine the required core competencies for the strategic alliances.
