Patriarchy and gender-based expectations limit the capacities of women entrepreneurs on business functions and make them somewhat dependent on husbands, business-partners and family. A survey research was conducted to find out who were the effective party and how much they were effective on business functions at the establishments which were either fully or partially owned by women. Data were collected from 200 women entrepreneurs in Mersin, using face to face connection by snowball sampling method. It was found that women entrepreneurs were relatively more effective on public relations, marketing (sales), staff and production functions. It was also found that as the educational level of women increases, their influence on business functions increases. Fundamental training on purchasing, accounting and finance should be provided for the women entrepreneurs. It is suggested that there is a need to implement policies to facilitate and promote women organizations and to provide women occupations and abilities beside their traditional gender-based roles offer.
